What a hectic day today was. We’ve been rushing this morning since we woke up to go pick up stocks from the warehouse today, which is quite far from where we live, go all the way back to stock them in our storage area, and then rush back to the city to make a 12:30 appointment, which became 1 pm, for which we were eventually 15 minutes late anyway.
Oh, but the good news is, our lawyer called today, because they received the approval-in-principle letter for my dependant’s pass application which we submitted a couple of weeks ago! So now, I just have to get an HIV test and a chest x-ray, and I’m good to go!
Meanwhile, we had a very nice seafood dinner with Leah, Tin, and their respective hubbies last Sunday night. It’s always nice to meet fellow bloggers, and even nicer when they’re as nice as you thought they were from their websites.

I cooked my first meal for my husband today: my mom’s spaghetti. We went to Lucky Plaza yesterday to buy UFC Tamis Anghang Banana Ketchup and Del Monte Sweet Style Spaghetti Sauce for the authentic taste. It made me a bit nostalgic to see Nagaraya, Papa Ketchup, Yes Magazine, and other Pinoy goodies. Of course, one Pinay saleslady commented after I asked her something in Chinese, “Akala ko Chinese ka eh.”
The spaghetti tasted good, but the taste was slightly different because we had to use a different brand of hotdogs, not Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs. (Am I sounding like a product placement blog now? Heh.) My husband liked the spaghetti, but next time, the hotdogs will just have to go.
All’s quiet on the domestic front. We’ve now been married for two weeks, and blanket hogging and hair on the drain outside, it’s been pretty fun. Am getting more used to my in-laws, and I’ve been kept busy the past couple of days with making a new website. And as my husband said, he’s just very content that we’ve gotten married and settled down.

After coming home from a verrry filling, dessert-filled lunch at Town in Fullerton Hotel yesterday, my husband told me that we’ll be leaving at 5:30 to have dinner. I was wondering why we were having dinner so early, since we usually have dinner at around 7:30-8 pm here. So anyway, I just went with the flow.
After dinner, instead of heading home, I again wondered why we parked at Cosy Bay instead. When I asked him why, he said his mom just wanted to walk around. So walk, walk, walk. And then, I found myself standing in a queue. It was only when we were near the end of the line that I saw it: the poster. We were going to watch Michael Buble’s concert. Ahhh!! Hubby had known for about a month now and wanted to surprise me. Surprised? I was shell-shocked. Hehe.
I had such a fun time at the concert; he had an amazing voice, great songs, witty repartees, and it was just such a great concert to watch. What a lovely surprise.

My hubby and I are currently so addicted to the Yahoo game Zuma! Those damn colored balls that you have to shoot while they keep rolling around before falling into the pit…playing it too long makes the screen swirly even after I play it, heh. We’ve only reached level 3-4 and it seems pretty impossible to go past it. Ugh.
Meanwhile, we went to MOM today to apply for my dependant’s pass. It was a pretty straightforward procedure: Go to the ticket machines, go to machine number 4, press F, and a ticket will come out. Go to the 2nd floor, watch the number board, and wait for your turn. Submit requirements, get a one-month extension of SVP. Wait until they contact the company with what should be a positive response!
Afterwards, headed over to Parkway Parade with my MIL (mother-in-law) to look for something, then get my new mobile phone. I’ve kinda missed not having a mobile phone because it makes me feel so disconnected from everyone, and yet at the same time, it was a liberating feeling to not having to carry around a phone. Weird, eh.
And oh my goodness, I got to try kaya toast from Ya Kun Kaya Toast before lunch and it was sooo good. It’s just toast, butter, sugar, and kaya, and it was so yummy. Me + good food = happy.

We picked up the application form for my dependant’s pass at MOM earlier today so I can stay here legally, as a dependant (yeah that’s how they spell it) of my spouse. It’s kinda weird now checking the box that says Married, and it’s still a bit weird that I now have a husband.
I’m slowly adjusting to life here. From going to places where he usually goes to sitting down to meals with his family (we’re staying here till we have enough money to move out), finding out Singapore’s idiosyncracies, trying to figure out directions and things and places so I wouldn’t always look and feel so lost.
Things are pretty relaxed around here. No hectic pace; if anything, it’s very laidback. I’m also adjusting to not having my own pace, to going with the flow around here. I’ve been so used to doing things on my own back in Manila. After I resigned last July, I would usually spend my days watching tv, going to the gym, or going to the mall mostly on my own, since my family and friends had work. Here, I’m usually with my husband, sometimes with his family, so it’s quite a change from the solitude I used to have!
I miss the food though; the food is so much better back home. They just have a different style here, and last night, I was just craving for sinangag and corned beef. I really must cook that one of these days, I’ll just have to go to the kitchen and surprise the maid that I’ll be doing some cooking.
I also miss my family, but I don’t allow myself to think too much about missing them otherwise I’ll just feel homesick. Right now, I’m ok…happy with the hubby, and starting out a new life here. Now, this is my life.
