We had an early wake up call this morning for our ten am meeting. That meant that I had to get up at 8 (far cry from my wake up time when I was still working in Manila), which is really early for me here. I had no time to have breakfast except for a couple of bites of a chocolate muffin that I bought yesterday. Hustled and took a bath, blowdried my hair, put on make up, dressed up, and prepared the stuff that we needed for our meeting.

We went to an industrial techpark around 20 minutes from us, to meet with this guy who makes all those things for the hotels. You know, bathrobes, slippers, soaps, shampoos, lotions, plates, teddy bears. You name it, they probably have it. Our meeting took place at their showroom and it was sooo cool to see all those things displayed there!

Anyhoo, after that, H and I had lunch with my in-laws at Al Dente Trattoria at the Esplanade, because of the great deal they had: a three course lunch complete with entree, main course, and dessert for only S$22.90. Get this, it was a one for one deal — so that meant lunch for all four of us only cost around fifty dollars or so. That’s half the price of what we would have paid at that place with each of us getting only the main course. It was an amazingly good deal. I had the calamari for my entree, the chargrilled sirloin steak with garlic mash and black pepper sauce, and macadamia infused creme brulee. Deeeelish.

And now for an even better deal, we bought food for dinner from the food court at Plaza Singapura after we did our grocery shopping. The dish was a mound of rice, grilled chicken thigh and leg, and an egg thingie plus curry sauce. It’s so good that the newspaper wrote about this stall and it has people queueing up for it! The price: $4.30.

Stuffed is an understatement.

I know I’m married and all, but I’ve been watching American Idol, and Ace Young is just so pretty! I didn’t get to watch the past couple of episodes, but I’m so glad I found his performance video on rickey.org because it just made my day. Good thing H doesn’t read this blog, haha.

*swoons*

I have no idea what’s going on: I do get enough sleep and I don’t do anything strenuous that will classify as tiring or anything. But all of a sudden, while watching TV, I would get terrible headaches…the kind that would reach from my forehead to my nape. I ‘m finding it so frustrating, and I hate taking medicine for it.

Oh well, on the other hand, I got my sushi fix for lunch today, so that’s a good thing. Must lie down and rest.

We couldn’t have gone to two more different concerts than the ones we watched on Wednesday and Thursday. Patrizio and Oasis were just on two different ends of the spectrum, both musically and performance speaking.

Patrizio’s concert was held at the Esplanade, and it really lived up to its title: An Evening of Romance. With a tall, dark Italian serenading the crowd, at the same time tickling us with his charming repartee, showing us his sense of humor. He just wowed the crowd..he definitely wowed me! And lucky me, we were seated at the fifth row so I could reaaaally see how handsome he is. And he was such a great singer too! It was really a night of romance, interspersed with lots of laughs. He poked fun at his loquacity, he named the Asian orchestra as Italian band members (Giovanni, Mikele, Fabrizio, etc), he gave out roses to some lucky girls, he walked into the crowd to have his picture taken. He was just the picture of the quintessential Italian: handsome, romantic, with a great voice to boot. And did I mention that he’s handsome? ;)

Meanwhile, yesterday’s Oasis concert at the Indoor Stadium was a great example of what a rock concert is. From the moment the band walked onstage, the crowd spontaneously leapt out of their seats and stayed that way for most of the performance. They performed 19 songs to the utter excitement of the mixed crowd: from ang mohs to asians, kiddies to granddaddies. It was just pure Oasis, and it was awesome. The crowd’s response was great, and it was just altogether a fantastic performance. Can you believe that we waited for around an hour after the show and actually saw the band get in the car and leave?

H was really so excited; he’s been waiting to see them live since like forever. He was screaming, singing his heart out, and it was so cute to see him totally excited like that!

Two great shows, two very different performances. And two great nights that served as stress relievers after busy days.

Encore please.

I’ve taken color quizzes several times before, and it’s really amazing how accurate most of the results are everytime I take it. Today’s result is one of those amazing ones.

I wanna join The Amazing Race Asia!!! I’m sure my sister, G, would love to join with me, but she’s too busy with law school. My husband is so not the type to do any TAR type thingie. Dr. A…wanna join with me? Oh boy…I wish this had come when I was still single! I’m not sure how much my husband would like it if I left for a month or so to do this thing.

But by golly, this is so exciting!

Just went through another meeting this afternoon, and it’s just making me wish all the more that the rounds of meetings will be over soon. It’s annoying to keep having to pitch your products for a few minutes at a time, only to be told that another meeting will have to happen again. I just want our product on the shelves, pronto.

Despite that, however, my husband and I are still finding time to relax. We watch tv, DVD’s, read books, surf the net, etc. My lifestyle now is definitely a far cry from my previous 7 to 5 existence before, and I was thinking earlier that I probably appreciate it even more after having been tied down to a desk for so long.

Meanwhile, we have two concerts to look forward to this week: Patrizio Buanne at the Esplanade on Wednesday, and Oasis (H is a diehard fan, I love their music as well!) on Thursday ! Whee!

I never realized before how difficult business can be. Now we’re going to meeting after meeting, I’m calling contact after contact, settling matter after matter, and we’re only beginning.

I guess it doesn’t help that I don’t have a formal business background. What I know only comes from common sense, observations from my previous workplace, plus whatever else I can research here and there.

Competition, pricing, marketing plans..what do I know of those? Not much, really. I’m learning bit by bit, though. But believe me, I’m truly finding out that business is tough.

Business tips for me, anyone?

VALENTINE DELIGHTS

Valentine’s Day is just a few days away. And in a strange nod to the occasion, I just wanted to share something funny that I got through email.

THESE ARE ENTRIES TO A WASHINGTON POST COMPETITION ASKING FOR A RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE, BUT THE LEAST ROMANTIC SECOND LINE:

Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss,
But I only slept with you, because I was pissed.

I thought that I could love no other
Until, that is, I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl’s empty and
so is your head.

Of loving beauty you float with grace.
If only you could hide your face.

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot.
This describes everything you are not.

I want to feel your sweet embrace,
But don’t take that paper bag off of your
face.

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes.
Damn, I’m good at telling lies!

My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife:
Marrying you really screwed up my life.

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That’s why I always wake up screaming.

My love, you take my breath away.
What have you stepped in to smell this way?

My feelings for you no words can tell
Except for maybe “Go To Hell”.

What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime.

Happy hearts day in advance!
