Darnit, I posted a long entry just now, but Blogger just ate it up. Hay, of all the things naman! But anyhoo, since I’m too lazy now to retype everything, just want to wish you all a very happy and safe new year! *Mwah*

Ahh..I’ve been dreaming of this 5-day break for the longest time. 2 days because of the weekend, and 3 days bec of the legal holidays on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I’ve planning to veg out, go out and see friends when I can, and so far, I’ve been able to do that! Yesterday, I met up with Dr. A and R and M at M’s house for our Christmas dinner, and as always, we had loads of food on the table. It’s funny how everytime we get together, we have to have some kind of food trip!

After that, we went to Boomland, which is only a few minutes walk from M’s place, and it was the first time I’ve ever been there! I’d forgotten how fun the perya (read: carnival) atmosphere can be. We didn’t go on any rides; for one thing, the rides weren’t that appealing, for another, it was a bit expensive for rides that didn’t look all that safe! We did have a lot of fun playing those cheezy games that I’ve missed, especially the balloon dart toss! Oh, and I won a plate! Yes, a plate, and a nice one at that. I won it at that game where you place a bet on a color, then they throw a ball inside a container with colored pegs, and whichever color the ball lands on wins! And I won on my first try! Heh. So I had to go around the whole evening carrying around a dinner plate in a carnival. How weird is that, huh?

And then today, while all I was planning to do was to watch The Sound of Music, Jonie-chan texted me if I was free, so I met up with her and Nic at the Alabang Town Center for bibingka. Christmas na Christmas, ‘no? 🙂

It’s been a great weekend so far, and if it’s any indication of how fun the next three days are going to be, then I’m all for it. Yay!

CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

  • One time, while standing outside the church for the Christmas Eve Mass (the church is always jampacked!), my sisters and I looked up the sky and thought we saw Santa’s sled shimmering down as it brought gifts onto our village. When we went home, my grandpa, who was living with us at the time, denied seeing Santa, despite the fact that Santa’s gifts were already under the tree when we got home.
  • My sisters and I used to have identical frilly dresses when we were kids, ribbons, shiny shoes, white knee-high stockings and all. We’d troop to the other side of the metro to go to my grandparents’ houses in Obando and Malabon, where there’d be lots of food and a little aguinaldo waiting for us.
  • One time, while playing in the bukid (farmland) behind my lola’s house, I almost drowned. I slipped on the mossy step that led into a balon (well) filled with kangkong. Luckily, I was rescued by some farmers nearby while I was floundering and looking at how kangkongs grew.
  • Going home from Christmas one year, the traffic was just horrible! Bumper to bumper, and it took hours to get home. From that time on, I’ve never been able to sleep while aboard the car anymore, dangit!
  • Back when I was a kid, seeing and going to the Big Bang sa Alabang meant that it was Christmas.
  • We loved going to C.O.D. and to Ever Monumento to see their lovely, larger-than-life Christmas scenes display. We were so awed by how they looked!
  • Some of my more memorable gifts include: a plastic playhouse tent that we assembled A LOT, a play coffee pot that kept refilling itself with coffee after you poured the contents out, a Beverly Hills 90210 filofax that made me squeal with delight when I unwrapped it (I was a big fan, oh yeah), my Pooh bear stuffed toy that had a silver necklace inside it from you-know-who.
  • Up until last year, all three of us (my sisters, I mean), still received gifts from Santa Claus. Will we still get them this year? Abangan.

Care to share some of your Christmas memories?

Wow. Zach won. I refuse to believe that Flo won too, because she was literally dragging Zach down. Her temper tantrums and outbursts were just a little too painful to watch. But man, Zach…Zach should be the guy all boyfriends should aim to be. Patient, optimistic, patient, determined, patient, sweet..and I don’t think I’ve mentioned that he’s patient. Oi! That boy has got the patience of a saint! I was so near tears yesterday when everyone finished..it was just so emotional! Aww, and it could be that I’m just sad that this season has wound up already.

I loved the basket bike sequence..that was SO funny! And did you notice how balanced Kenny was? Heh. I guess a little extra weight sure helped him that time! :Þ Oh Phil, why couldn’t you say “stay tuned for scenes from our next episode” again? I DEMAND another season of TAR! Note to casting directors: ease off on the Whine factor, alright? Ok, good.

Is it really the end of Wednesday already? Seems like it’s even harder to track which day it is because of the hecticness of work. I’m taking in more than my usual field of responsibilites, and although I am having fun assembling goodie boxes and talking to customers and all that, it seems like I hardly get time off to breathe and relax. Even lunch hour is not exactly an hour anymore, especially when the phone rings and I have to answer a call. We all have to pitch in here, what with being a small office and all so I don’t mind. I hardly get to read my favorite blogs anymore. Boohoo. I keep promising myself that I will, but somehow, the day seems too short and I don’t find time at all.

When I get home, the most I can do is talk on the phone with The Boy for a while, then I just really have to hit the sack. I hardly get to watch TV, except for my beloved TAR, which will end tomorrow. Sniff. And why am I not losing weight? Grr. With all the waking up early and work that I have to do, why isn’t it affecting this part of my life, hmmm? Darnit. Of all the things that remains inactive, it has to be this. What STILL remains very active is my dreamworld, which left me absolutely flat out tired this morning when I woke up, hair all mussed up. Which made me wonder: what if when we dream, we are actually in a whole other plane in a parallel universe and all these things are really happening to us, only in another plane? Heh.

Anyhoo, a bunch of papers just got stacked in my desk, so back to work I go. Toodle-loo!

Grabe. Things have been so busy at work today, we all feel that it’s Saturday already. Loads and loads of orders have come in over the weekend, prompting all of us to pitch in with operations, putting our own work at the sideline. I’m lucky I’ve done a bit of advanced work for next month’s layout weeks ahead, so that now, I can freely volunteer to do other things without worrying that my own work will suffer.

Anyhoo, what a great, great weekend! Watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding with The Boy, and it was just so funny! Just made me want to get married even more. And it made The Boy glad that we’re not Greek. Heh. The weekend was just so fabulous, as I got to spend it with him, and it just really underlined the fact that we’re so content with each other. *Sigh* I know, I know, I’m eternally mushy, but then I’m just really so glowingly happy! Hmm, ready to barf now? 😉

Can’t wait to go home!

Feh. The wonder twins are gone. Why do all the teams that I like get eliminated when there are only 4 teams left in the race? First there were Kevin and Drew, the fat bald frat brothers who were incredibly funny. Then there were Danny and Oswald, the gay best friends who just had so much style and flair and zen. And now, the twins, who I’ve really grown to admire as racers because they’re simple and daft and at times almost seem a tiny bit gay despite their hunkiness (did you see how they were the only ones who had umbrellas yesterday when it was pouring out? snerk!). *Sigh* It was a toss up between Ken and Gerard and Derek and Drew yesterday; unfortunately, Flo’s big mouth blabbed the clue away, leaving Derek and Drew (or the Zoolander twins as I often think of them), in the Vietnamese dust.

*sigh* Not really my most favorite episode at all. Right Shi?

By the way, as much as I hate Teri and Ian, if ever they do win, I guess they really will deserve it. Inasmuch as given the choices now, I’d really prefer just Zach to win (Shut up, Flo!), since that’s not possible, Ken and Gerard will be my bet. I just don’t know what the odds will be on that happening, though. But seriously, if it was a toss up between Teri and Ian and Flo, I must say that Teri and Ian will deserve it more, much as it pains me to say it, because Flo was just Zach’s hanger on and screamer and whiner extraordinaire.

Darn, this isn’t really how I wanted TAR to end! Stay tuned for next week’s two hour season finale, folks!
